Dvir Cohen Keidar
My main artistic practice is painting and printmaking. Through my works I attempt to challenge the established dichotomies of high art and popular culture, life and death, humor and gravity, skepticism and belief.
My works are inspired by studio photographs from the 19th century, frames from films from the dawn of cinema, illustrations for mythological stories and autobiographical images.
My works evoke the discourse of the practice of painting, engulfing themes of identity, and the disturbing preoccupation with the human body in western culture.
